65. Check out Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court We took a step back through time through Henry VIII's eyes at Hampton Court Palace. The palace was originally built for Cardinal Wolsey, one of King Henry's trusted advisors but after Wolsey fell from the King's favour (for not being able to persuade the Pope to annul Henry's first marriage), the palace was passed back to the King.

The extensive palace gardens are a pretty sight to see, and it's easy to imagine what it would have been like when royals walked the hallways. I also came away with a different perspective of Henry, a man driven to expand his kingdom and wanted so very badly to produce male heirs to ensure that power remained in his line. Unfortunately for Henry, after more than 20 years of marriage to his first wife, and still no son, he would continue to marry until he could produce male heirs. The two wives beheaded were allegedly committing adultery anyway.
