78 Go to Stratford-upon-Avon

We found a great travel deal with half price rail tickets from London Marylebone to Stratford-upon-Avon and decided to do a day trip there.

The train ride takes about 2.5 hours and takes you through some nice English countryside. After arriving at the Stratford-upon-Avon train station, the village centre is just short walk away.

I would recommend doing a walking tour to find out about the great bard’s town, from where he was born to his grave.

Some interesting facts:

Stratford-upon-Avon means ‘the path where there is a shallow part to cross a river’.

Shakespeare’s Church (where he was baptised and buried)

Shakespeare’s birthplace – he was born in this house

And where Shakespeare was buried (inside the Church)
